French conceptual artist Sophie Calle's foray into filmmaking continues to explore her fascination with intimacy, identity, and self-reflection with this documentary framed by a series of interconnected and contrasting video diaries. The bilingual, autobiographical film follows Calle and her American love interest and collaborator Shephard as they embark on a relationship making/breaking cross-country road trip, the passage of time and lack of romantic progress marked by Calle's repeated titular sigh of "no sex last night". Paralleling both her earlier work and her projects yet to come, "No Sex Last Night" is an examination of personal and social boundaries pushed to their limits.
